Web Activity One

Idot's Webpage

Process:
SUCCESS!! I was finally able to upload my webpage to the web host which has proven to be extremely difficult. Here were the steps towards my web assignment 1 process:

1. Downloaded Dreamweaver to my MacBook.
2. Since I had no familiarity in creating a webpage, I had to do an extensive amount of research and review plenty of tutorials.
3. I decided to make my page as simplistic as possible seeing that this was my first webpage. I decided for my topic to be on the Vista in Columbia and what it offered for those in the Columbia area.
4. I decided to use the template from http://www.free-css-templates.com/css-templates/1 and went with the BrownShadow template.
5.. Each new page I created I saved as an html into my folder "LouisWA1" which I used to load all of my images, files, and templates.
6. I then put in the content of each of the five pages I created and linked them together using a hyperlink option. In order for the links to work, I placed them on the webhost after linking them together to ensure that they worked.
7. After creating each webpage, I decided to use Bluehost as the web hosting site to create my page. This task is currently challenging in which I am still going through the steps trying to discover why the webpage is still not being displayed. I have linked my FTP through Dreamweaver and Bluehost.

Challenges:
Aside from having major difficulties in posting the webpage, I put extensive amount of work on show up on my hosting site, it took a great deal of time discovering how to place information within the coded area of Dreamweaver. I read through multiple tutorials on linking pages together (still unsure if that was done successfully) but through trial and error, I was able to get a basis of how to input the content I wanted. With more practice in this area, I know it is something I will be successful at in the future.

Successes:
After hours of time invested in the activity, I felt that I succeeded in uploading a template and creating hyperlinks for the different pages. Eventually I became more comfortable with coding the information I needed on each page. It became to be more of an advanced wiki site after a while. I was extremely elated over being able to finally to post my webpage through the Bluehost hosting site. I learned it was an issue where I was given the incorrect usermane to link to my UTP address. Overall, it has been a goal to create a webpage and this course has given me the experience I need to expand towards a better developed webpage.

Design Choices:
1. Page Structure - I chose the template layout for my webpage because if fit the content that I wanted to place on the webpages. I didn't need a lot of information and the design for the website fit what I needed.
2. Graphics - The graphics provided within the website were images that made the website visually appealing. These graphics were set the tone for the website and allow for the viewer to receive an idea of what the Vista looks like through the images.
3. Interface Design - The interface design for the webpage was chosen so the user could easily select the pages to view through the panel towards the title screen. It should have been found without a problem of how to go from one page to the next.
4. Information Architecture - I listed the pages in order of interest level of whomever wanted to view the page. The hompeage (index.html) and "About" page gave a background for what the viewer would be experiencing through the webpages.
5. Typography - Within Dreamweaver, I edited the text so not only would it be easier for the reader to see, but it was friendlier to the eye while navigating through the webpages.
