For my graphics project, I chose to create a collage on what guided my decision to study within the Education Technology program.

Meanings
With this graphic, I wanted to grasp the message that children can have a motivation to be enthusiastic learners. Through my experiences, kids are really into technology and the devices that relate to it. I want these images to be a small representation of what you may see in today's society which is children using technology to make their learning and how they explore the world around them easier. I see the use of technology as a means to "ignite" that "spark" that will not only have children more eager to learn, but become more creative in how they use their resources to learn.

Processes
In creating this graphic, I began by researching various image editing programs that were used on the web. I was unable to find one that I was comfortable in using for editing so I chose to go back to Photoshop Elements 13. Another reason that I selected Photoshop Elements 13 is that I see it as a tool that I can use a lot more in the future and therefore wanted to gain more of a knowledge on how to use the program to it's full potential. A challenge, or in this case a weakness, in creating this graphic came in rearranging the photos so my quote was visible within the graphic. I realized that I needed the correct amount of solid colors within the image (the white used above in the graphic) to assist in having the quote I used visible on the graphic. At the same time, I have found that a strength has come in how I'm able to position images effectively within a collage to convey the message I am trying to express. It seems that I was never completely satisfied when attempting to complete the image and continuously edited my photo into it matched my expectations. It's hard for me to say when I believed my final product was finished, but I knew by viewing it, that it was a complete work to my standards.

Choices
I started this graphic by first choosing a suitable quote that has a relation towards my purpose in the Education Technology program. Paul Wellstone was a politician who served in the U.S. Senate from 1991 until he was killed in a plane crash in Eveleth, Minnesota in 2002. The quote by Paul Wellstone was an accurate observation in which children must find something that motivates them to become more interested in the learning process. The images that were selected shows that students have an interest in learning and exploring through their computers/devices which relates to the quote within the graphic. Each image within the collage was purposefully selected to show that children are engaged when they have access to computers or technological devices. When moving around the images, I wanted to ensure that the connection between the child and their device/computer was visible. I also wanted to show diversity between children who are technologically engaged and therefore decided to make sure that each picture depicted that.
